last June, when 49 people were killed in a queer club in orlando, a reporter inside noted phones ringing from the pockets on the bodies of people who's lives had been taken, who had yet to be identified to their loved ones. this song is about the people on the other end needing so much for someone to pick up and maybe knowing that no one can. Love to all of y'all looking out for the people you are calling.
lyrics
patience echoes in the cracks in the walls,
the cracks in the walls always bracing for your call.
hollow tone...wait for the tone, leave a message at the tone,
the tones faded and stark
stark empty, hollow heart
heavy footsteps, heavy hand, heavy heart
hollow tone...wait for the tone, leave a message at the tone,
the tones faded and stark
stark empty, torn apart
heavy footsteps, heavy hand, heavy heart
hollow tone...wait for the tone, leave a message at the tone,
the tones faded and stark
stark empty, torn apart
is that your finger on the button, your finger on the button, your finger on the dial
is that my finger on the trigger, your finger on the button, my finger on the dial
